Nail Technician: Applying Gel Sculptured Nails and Re-balancing

It is important to practice gel sculptured nails in order to become proficient with this type of artificial nails. There is a lot to consider before it is applied to a clients natural nails. Here is how to apply gel nails.

What you need...

• Paper Towels
• Scrub Fresh (To remove the oils from the nail plate.)
• Lint Free Pads (To remove residue from gel process.)
• Clear Gel
• Pink Gel
• White Gel
• Form Stickers
• Bond Aid or Primer
• Gel Brush (for application)
• Gel Top Coat
• Curing Lamp

 

 

New Full Set:

You will follow all guidelines that would normally be used when performing a waterless manicure. Do NOT nip cuticles due to the filing and buffing process. Follow these instructions to learn how to do gel nails.

1. Prepare natural nail.
2. Push back cuticle.
3. Buff shine off nail.
4. Scrub fresh with lint free pads to remove dust and oil.
5. Brush on primer or bond aid.
6. Apply form stickers.
7. Apply clear gel using the gel brush. Do NOT cover free edge. Leave a smile line for the white.
8. Cure for 2 minutes.
9. Apply thin coat of pink on top of the clear; free edge is still clear of product.
10. Cure for 2 minutes
11. Apply white gel from the smile line to the length that is required.
12. Cure for 2 minutes.
13. Remove forms.
14. IF NOT USING CLEAR FORMS: take off forms and cure again for 2 minutes.
15. Use white to fill in sloped lines.
16. Cure for 2 minutes.
17. Scrub fresh with lint free pads to remove tackiness.
18. Shape the nail and remove any bumps with a 300 grit file.
19. Buff the nail with 1000 grit file for smoothness.
20. Scrub fresh with lint free pads to remove dust.
21. Apply gel top coat.
22. Cure for 2 minutes.
23. Scrub fresh the nails with a lint free pad to remove residue.

ALL DONE! :)

Re-Balancing Steps:

When natural smile line appears; fix it with these steps. Depending on how far up you place the sculptured smile line; you may need to due a re-balance (or fill) with in 2-3 weeks.

1. Drill the smile line.
2. Fill in with white gel.
3. Cure for 2 minutes.
4. Fill in cuticle area after pushing with clear.
5. Cure for 2 minutes
6. Fill cuticle area with pink.
7. Cure for 2 minutes
8. File (300 grit)
9. Buff (1000 grit)
10. Scrub fresh with lint free pads.
11. Apply top coat.
12. Cure for 2 minutes.
